YOU SHOULD KNOW: •What are the elements that make up a culture?
•Places, people, sights, food and facts about Spain
•The autonomous communities of Spain and where they are located.
• What are some ways that Spanish verbs are different from English verbs?
•Some questions and statements that are expressed differently in other languages such as telling your age or saying you like something.
•How nouns and adjectives work in Spanish ( and other Romance languages )
•Questions and statements in Spanish are the same except for their punctuation and voice inflection. NO WORDS like "do" or "does"
or "AM" or "IS " are added.
•There are 2 ways to talk to people in Spanish. What are they and when do you use each?
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
Greet people, introduce yourselves and others and talk about age, interests, where people are from what you are like ( describe yourself and others)
Talk about your friends, what they are like and what you do together.
Talk about your school and activities and subject that you study, your teachers and what people are like.
Talk about where you are going. Invite and respond to invitations to do things like ski or swim go to a party – including days and times to meet.
Talk about food, invite people to eat and drink with you.
Use words like want and can and plan, as well as all the forms of me gusta, etc. with the infinitive forms of the verb that tells what you want or plan or can or like To Do.
Express that you are going to do something and that you HAVE TO do something.
Express that you are doing something IN ORDER TO do something else.
…. Say , for example, “my cousin’s daughter” or “My friend’s house” ( ‘s possession)
Use correct punctuation. Ask a question in Spanish.
Talk about American culture and some things you know about the Spanish culture. Talk about how Americans with roots in other countries have some additional traditions and celebrations.

Read authentic materials in Spanish for basic comprehension.
Write about yourself and others in the past.
Have a conversation in which you get to know someone better.
Speak in front of a group and tell a story about yourself or someone else.
Write a paragraph.
