Goal this week: talk about our day in the past tense! Learn vocabulary to go Christmas Shopping in a store in Madrid.
MONDAY OCTOBER 27 ---- Begin Chapter 2B ----- talk about shopping and buying things
Today our work is to get familiar with the vocabulary of Chapter 2B. We will be able to talk about buying things, clothing and shoes, sales and ways to pay for things. If you learned vocabulary last year for clothing, you can use it again in this chapter.
Students should get textbooks from ventilator. If more are needed, there are some more in the cabinet, left side.
Find a partner that you know will help you be successful in this learning oppportunity. You only get one shot at this. One of you open to Page 102 and 103 and the other to p. 124.. Both have your notebooks open to your vocabulary section.
Read the dialogue between Lupita and her friend. Find the words in bold blue and look then up on your vocabulary list on p. 124. Write them in your notebook as you go along. Read and understand each exchange between the girls. Do the same with the bold blue words in the picture. Before you look it up, can you predict what the word means from the context and the picture?
Question: What is the new reflexive verb we find in this chapter?
TUESDAY --- point out important vocabulary and some expressions from the book. Reading Assessment coming this week.
Add buscar and mirar... How many verbs do you now know that include the words "for" or "to" or the word "how"
Be familiar with all the vocabulary of Chapter 2B ( p 102 , 103 and 124) AND Be sure to learn these words:
escoger, encontrar, probarse, probar, me importa, me parece, algodon, duero, lana, seda, la tarjeta de credito, en efectivo, el numero, la talla, gastar and ganar, la salida, la entrada

?A que hora te depertaste hoy? Me desperte' a las seis. Practice saying simply some things you did this morning. Would you use preterite or imperfect?
WEDNeSDAY AND THURSDAY ----SPEAKING, PAST AND PRESENT Reading Assessment this week.
Que hiciste esta manana? Practice saying very simply a list of the things you did this morning. Work with a partner. Present your last and then repeat back to your partner what your partner did. Some people will present to the class and sayy what they did, what their partner did and what they both did ( us I, she/he and we forms). 20 - 30 minutes
comprar, pagar, claro, oscuro, vivo, alto, bajo, flojo, apretado, tan + adjective, el dinero, cambiar
este, esta, estos, estas aquel, aquella, aquellos, aquellas, ese, esa, esos, esas (this, that, these, those)
Put the direct object pronouns on the board and talk about the peculiar word order. Leave them on the board for students to use if they want. We will be working with them for a week more in order to get them down. They have been seeing them in the readings and will see some int he assessment on Friday.
Role play -- Work in groups of three now. Two of you are shopping and one of you is the cajera/ cajero. Pretend you are in a store.Talk about what you are looking for and be as specific as you can. Look around well and make choices about what you want to buy and have some problems finding exactly the right thing. You will use other vocabulary, such as "to need" so you can say, my mom needs a new scarf.... Or my sister needs a medium or a large. What size do you need? What color t shirt does your brother want? What color do you prefer? What color does your mam like? etc.
Now take your things to la cajera/ el cajero and with them, talk about how much you owe and how you are going to pay. Use numbers and please and thank you. Maybe the store you are in doesn't take credit cards and you have to pay in cash. You will have to ask where there is an ATM?
Friday: Can you read authentic material in Spanish? Can you tell about something that happened this week?
Vender --- to sell
Reading assessment today! Remind students of direct object pronouns ( on the board)
Prepare for a speaking assessment next week. Can you tell a story about this week in school? Something that happened? Set up the story by describing what was going on, where you or your character was, and then tell what occurred. It can be made up, but I'll bet something interesting happened. Remember!!! you can only use common vocabulary, though, so you may have to be creative when you don't know the word for something and describe it!
