QUE HICISTE EL FIN DE SEMANA? talk with a friend for about five minutes about what each of you did over the weekend.
Did you tell Eduardo that Tomas used to be a student at this school?
Trey Parker also attended our school.
EL MARTES el 12 de noviembre vocabulary, indirect objects, and a quick write
VOCABULARY -- some review, some new:
Vender - to sell esperar - to wait for, to expect, to hope for aprender -- to learn ensenyar -- to teach
decidir ---to decide escoger -- to choose deber -- to should, ought existir --- to exist enviar -- to send
YESTERDAY'S SENTENCE OF THE DAY" REPLACE EDUARDO WITH HIM. TALK ABOUT INDIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS
Word order for indirect object pronouns. ( Direct Object pronouns coming soon......)
from last week's sentence....
She gave us a bargain. The cashier told us that the sale..... What are you telling me?
You already know the pronouns that you must use with gusta, importa and parece. they are: me, te le, nos, les. They mean "to me, to you, to him her it you polite, to us, to them, you-all"
They replace "a Maria, a mi, a ti, a mis amigos y yo, a los estudiantes, a usted, etc.) Notice the "a" which means" to"
THE BLOCK DAYS! el 13 y 14 de noviembre -- putting it all together
More work on indirect object pronouns. We will learn how to use them with an infinitive -- and again, we are not learning any new things -- just applying what we already know to new situations.
also por vs para
querido/a = Dear....
estimado / a + dear for a business letter
la ropa
Write a thank you note.
Your grandmother sent you a check for your birthday and she wants to know what you bought. Describe the clothes you bought, where you got them, and as many details as you can. Did anything interesting happen while you were shopping? Set up the anecdote and tell her what happened.
el viernes el 15 de noviembre -- more putting it together and not learning anything new* :)
*well, maybe you'll discover something that lets you say and understand so much more.
Speak in Spanish about your storybook. Practice using the indirect object pronouns. A girl gives a cat a cupcake. A girl gives him a cupcake.
And then what happens? The cat eats it!
How do we say that? Because IT takes the place of CUPCAKE -- it is the DIRECT OBJECT -- what did the cat eat? What did the girl give? the cupcake, or IT.
So now we need another set of pronouns -- direct object pronouns -- to go with our indirect object o=pronouns and our reflexive pronouns.....
WE ALREADY KNOW.....
me te se, nos se ---- myself, yourself, himself, ourselves, themselves....etc. (reflexive)
me te le nos les -----to/for me, to/for you, to/for him her it, to/for ourselves, to/for themselves yourselves
HERE ARE THE DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS:
me te LO LA, nos LOS LAS When would you use lo and when la? Why? How do you know which one to use?
I bought a red shirt ( una camisa roja ). For " I bought it" would you choose lo or la? why? Make a rule.
NOW YOU HAVE ALL THE GRAMMAR THAT WE DO IN SPANISH 2! ALL WE HAVE TO DO NOW IS PRACTICE USING IT SO WE GET COMFORTABLE, FAST AND FLUENT. WE WANT TO COMMUNICATE IN SPANISH, USING VOCABULARY WE KNOW AND TO THINK IN SPANISH, NOT IN ENGLISH.
HABLAR:
Con un amigo -- A su amigo le gusta mucho su ropa. Dile 1) de donde la compraste, 2)hace cuanto tiempo la compraste, 3) si era muy caro o una ganga -- cuanto costo'? ( talk with a partner: Your friend really likes you outfit. Tell him/her where you bought it, how long ago, if it was very expensive or a bargain, how much did it cost?)
Homework: Choose a photo from a trip/vacation that you took and e mail it to yourself to share with the class on the block day.
