introduction to Stem-changing Verbs so you can use JUGAR - to play ( sports, games)
JUGAR (ue) is a stem-changing vereb, also known as a "shoe verb" because of the pattern of the stem change.
1) What's a stem? The stem is the part of the verb that's left after you take off the -ar, -er, -ir.
2) The vowel in the stem will change from U to UE in the I,. you, he she it, and they forms. There is no change in the we form. Juego, juegas, juega, jugamos, juegan. Go ahead and draw your chart and then plug these forms in in the correct squares. Now draw a continuous line around the boxes that contain the -ue stem in them. Did you draw a shoe? That's why it's called a "shoe verb".

PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL! esta is different than esta' . el cabello y el caballo are two different words, just like cat and cut are two different words!
FRIDAY
review once again of verbs -- regular and irregular. there are 3 kinds of irregular verbs: completely wacko, (ser, estar and ir), first person irregular ( like VER ) and the stem-changers, or shoe verbs, like JUGAR. TENER and VENIR ( to have and to come) are both first person irregular and stem changing.
Now let's practice speaking. Talk with a friend about the upcoming vacation and holiday. Who is coming to your house and where are they coming from ( use "a" and "de") ? ....or where are you going? What will you and your family and friends do during the 9 days?
