PIGGIES Here are the words:

MUCHO --- the adverb, means “a lot”. It has no other forms. Just MUCHO.
MUCHO --- the adjective, means “ a lot of….” Or “,many”” and describes a NOUN. As an adjective, it must change its ending to agree with the noun it is with. It has 4 forms : mucho, mucha, muchos and muchas.
Adjectives and Nouns must agree in Gender and number. The noun is the boss. The adjective changes. O A . O is masculine. A is Feminine. In adjectives that end in something other than O or A, no need to worry about gender: They are Both Masculine and feminine. ( verde, azul, joven, paciente)
How many forms does an adjective that ends on O or A have? How about an adjective that ends in an E? How do you form the plural of AZUL? What’s the rule?

Put two words/phrases together. , ex. To spend time+ more = To spend more time. Make as many pairs as you can.
AUGUST 22 Todos los dias and reading strategies
Todos los dias --- show agreement EVEN THO “dia” ends in an A, it’s masculine. Review nouns and articles. Review the rules for masculine and feminine nouns.
EN and CON are prepositions. They are very important this year as we read more complicated things.
Which are the adverbs in yesterday's list? Remember, they NEVER change their form. How can they? They have nobody to agree with! Adverbs modify VERBS, adjectives ( VERY big) and other adverbs ( ONLY ONCE).
Animales
Reading --- look over the selection. Recognize words, see if you can get the general idea of what’s being talked about.
Translate: Use this process to break the selection down into chunks:
1)Put a diamond around conjunctions and relative pronouns*.
*Relative pronouns are Spanish question words without an accent and mean the same ( where, when, who….. except that “que” means “that” and “como” means “like, as, since” and “porque” is “because”.
Treat each side of the diamond like a separate complete sentence. Work only one side at a time. If your Diamond comes at the beginning, you will see a COMMA at some point. That is your one side – do it separately, then do the sentence beyond the comma.
2) Identify and put in parenthesis all prepositional phrases.
3) underline nouns and all their posse ( articles, adjectives )
4) In whatever is left, FIND THE CONJUGATED VERB.
5) Put the chunks of the sentence together. Tweak it to make good English sense. BRAVO!!Nouns in English ending in -tion are –cion in Spanish. Nouns ending in A D Z ION are feminine nouns.. - dad/idad = ty/ity. -mente = -ly

Work more with Animales piece – read second section. Do sentence E`l mastica comidas duras.... on the board to illustrate how diamond words, prepositional phrases and grouping words that go together helps in reading. BTW: notice "duras" in this sentence was "duros" in the first sentence? That's because it's an adjective and can have 4 forms to agree with nouns. The meaning is always the same.

Random word/phrase handout:
Find words that end in –idad. Find words that end in –mente. Find words that end in –oso or osa or osas or osos. Look, analyze, make a rule. Nouns in English ending in -tion are –cion in Spanish. Nouns ending in A D Z ION are feminine nouns..
Show 15 minutes of movie. Repeat if needed. Do you hear some of the words and phrases that are on the paper? Say something about the movie, the characters, the situation, what you saw .... in Spanish. Can you use words on the handout to help you?
Homework: Review Chapter 1A verbs in the Readidades 1 book. Know these verbs by our block day.
TUESDAY AUGUST 27 Review verbs, verb endings, irregularsReview verbs like walk, read, watch, see, want - wish, to be ( is, are), think, live, go, have. Review endings and conjugations of irregulars.
review regular present tense endings. Remember that am-in, are -in, do-ing , does - ing are built in. In other words: Are you speaking Spanish = you speak Spanish ---------? hablas espanol?
There are 3 kinds of irregular verbs: wackos, first person irregulars, and Stem-changing ( shoe) verbs
BE SURE THAT YOU KNOW THE VERBS IN CHAPTER 1A OF REALIDADES 1 PLUS THESE VERBS BY FRIDAY. KNOW HOW TO USE THEM IN A SENTENCE!

Use verbs from chapter 1A to talk about what you , your friends, family, Belle, Gaston do and do not do. Include when you do things ( adverbs, frequently, sometimes, everyday, never, always, a lot.... Include where you do things if you can ( at school, in the park, at home, in the mountains, at the library....
Introduce LA Gitanilla begin reading chapter 1 --- present participle, de pueblo en pueblo
