IR to go
NEW!!!!! add PARA --- in order to to be able to link things together and say " I want to go to the mountains on Saturday to ski" use para esquiar. When we say we are doing something IN ORDER TO do something else, we use para." I'm studying FOR to get good grades." Here's another way to understand it as a dialogue: " I'm studying." "What for?" " To get good grades".
Pronounce PARA like "pot o' " in "I'm making a pot o' tea".
here are some places:
la casa, la escuela, las montanas, el restaurante, el centro comercial, , el parque, la playa, la piscina, el museo, el supermercado
use days of the week
Can you invite someone to do something?
Wed/Thursday
con -- with
conmigo -- with me
contigo -- with you
TENER + QUE + INFINITIVE = to have to do something. Choose a form of tener ( whoever has to....) and then say QUE (which means nothing at all here) and then the verb for what you have to do -- with the AR , ER IR still attached.
So, to say " i have to work" is" Tengo que trabajar". " We have to write" is" tenemos que escribir".
Compose an email inviting a friend to do something with you. Include the day and the place and any other details you want to practice. . AS your friend write a response that says that they can't because they are doing something. State what it is they are doing.. They will then ask if you and he/she can do what you want to do another day. Write your answer back to them.
Later, Turn this into a dialogue with a partner.
Friday
?Adonde vas? answer and say what you are going there for.
Ask: do you want to go with me?
Say: thank you, but I can't. I have to _________________.
Monday
Computer lab to wok on Spain. period 1, 2 in B-316. Period 3 in LMC lab
TUESDAY JANUARY 29
Review once more expectations and purpose of our presentations on the Autonomous Communities of Spain.
Review the 6 stem changing verbs we have been working with ----- pensar, jugar, poder, querer, tener, dormir ( to think, plan, to play, to be able (can), to want or to love, to sleep)
Let's work on speaking: Say:
Hello, Friend. I am going to Las Vegas with my friends on Thursday. We are sleeping at my uncle's hotel, the Bellagio, and we plan to see Penn & Teller at the Hilton on Friday. Do you want to go with me?
Thank you very much! I want to go with you. I have a drawing class on Friday, but I can talk with my teacher and I can draw when I am in Las Vegas. I can draw Cher!
A new thing might be " my uncle's hotel" There is no apostrophe s for possession in other languages. You must say it the long way --- the hotel of my uncle (el tio). Also, pay attention to the "I am in Las Vegas" Is this a helping I AM or is it the actual verb? If it's the verb, you have 2 choices for I AM -- which do you want? Why?
Practice speaking like this for a speaking quiz coming up soon.
WED/THURSDAY block
Review these things you are responsible for knowing-- conmigo and contigo, possession in Spanish uses DE ( the WHATEVER OF WHOEVER), tener + que + infinitive to say " to have to do something", stem changing verbs, VER * (veo) to watch or see, PARA preosition meaning "for and use it whenever you say you are doing something in order to do something else ( I AM STUDYING para TO GET GOOD GRADES)
also list subject pronouns ( yo t'u, usted, ustedes, e'l, ella, nosotros, nosotras, ellas, ellos) and talk about the object of a preposition ( for me, for us, from them, to us, to her, with him, etc.) pronouns being the same except for M'I and T'I.
Think back to what we did on Tuesday. Now use these places and things to do and create an invitation of your own.
1.Chicago, Monday, to visit the Museum of Art. You want to see Seurrat's "Sunday in the Park".
2.My parents, Rome, in summer, to visit family and see Roman history and practice speaking Italian.
3.Eduardo, New York, to eat pizza and see Book of Mormon. He can also visit his cousins who live in the city.
